General Ingredient 

  • Boneless skinless chicken (2 Ibs)
  • Egg (1)
  • A teaspoon of Salt (1 ½)
  • Cornstarch (½  cup) 
  • flour (½  cup)

Sauce Ingredients 

  • A teaspoon (1)of sesame oil
  • Tablespoons (2) of cornstarch
  • Water (½ cup)
  • Chopped onion (1 cup)
  • Tablespoons (3) soy sauce
  • Teaspoons (1) of red chili pepper
  • Tablespoon (1) of oil
  • Brown sugar ( ½ cup)
  • Teaspoons (2) of garlic
  • Orange juice (¾ cup)
  • Teaspoon  (1) of sesame oil
  • Teaspoons (2) of minced ginger root
  • Tablespoon (2) Cornstarch
  • Tablespoon (2) rice wine
  • One orange zest 

Direction For Making Home-Made Orange Chicken 

You need to fry your chicken using the following guideline

  • Dice your chicken into your desired sizes.  Gather and put them inside a large bowl
  • Mix egg, salt, pepper, and a teaspoon of oil in another bowl 
  • Mix flour, and half a cup of cornstarch and mix them in the third bowl
  • Pour oil into a deep fryer or wok and heat till 375 degrees. 
  • Dip each chicken piece into the egg mix and then flour mix. Turn the chicken in each mix and shake off the excess 
  • Add your coated chicken to the heated oil. Fry them gradually under low heat for 3-4 minutes.
  • Drain out the fried chicken when they turn golden brown. Repeat the process till you finish frying the whole chicken. 

Orange Chicken Sauce Preparation 

Prepare your orange chicken sauce by following the following steps. 

  • Add water to the cornstarch and mix.
  • Pour the Soy sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, and orange zest into a bowl.
  • Heat the deep fryer and add a teaspoon of oil.
  • Add ginger root, green onions, red chili pepper, and garlic into the heated deep fryer. Fry and stir for a few seconds until it begins to give off a pleasant aroma. 
  • Add the rice wine and soy sauce.
  • Gently add the fried chicken and stir the mixture until they are completely mixed.
  • Add the liquid cornstarch and stir.
  •  Continuously stir and cook the mixture under low heat until it thickens.
  • When you get your desired thickness, off the cooker. Your homemade orange chicken is ready to be served.
